The building that was to win the first steel award in Malaysia, when steel was just being recognised for its potential as an innovative building material. The building was built during an era when the country was being industrialised in a large scale, with many industrial buildings being built in concert with a surge of manufacturing activities.

 

The building was to demonstrate the poetic quality of steel for simple buildings and steel evoke the utilitarian nature of the building type. The building was constrained by cost as its budget was the same as other buildings of similar type.
