Syntactically Modern And Tropical
The project appeared in Domus magazine in 1998 along with various contemporary iconic buildings from around the world. The building takes its cues from the early modernist icons with various tropical idioms. It was a linguistic narrative of what was meant to be modern yet tropical at the time.
The building stood out in its context, which was an industrial zone where buildings were put together expediently without consideration to architectural merits. It exemplified the practice’s works, struggling to proposition architecture to a clientele that did not appreciate it, especially when economics concerns were overbearing.
